Why Give?

In the community, under privileged youth face adversity in various aspects of their lives. Compared to their peers, these youth are lacking in interpersonal skills, education (specifically in STEM fields), and suffer from various behavioral disorders. This is caused mainly by the lack of support systems for youth, underfunded schools, and familial/neighborhood hardships of that many of today’s urban youth face on a daily basis.

According to the website NeighborhoodScout.com, our neighborhood has more single mother households than 97.6% of the neighborhoods in the U.S. The website also notes that high concentrations of single mother homes can be a strong indicator of family and social issues such as poverty, high rates of school dropouts, crime, and other societal problems. Additionally, Chisholm and West Montgomery stand out for having an average per capita income lower than 98.5% of the neighborhoods in the United States. Also of note, 82.4% of the children in this area live in poverty; an extraordinarily high percentage compared to other neighborhoods in the nation. In a nation where approximately one in four children grows up in poverty, our neighborhood stands out for the depth of the problem manifested here.

That’s My Child seeks to end poverty in our community and become a model for addressing the issues our youth face today. We believe entrepreneurship, career and technical education are the catalysts for changing poverty, high rates of school dropouts, crime, and other societal problems. With your help, we're changing lives everyday.  We rely on the compassion and generosity of people like you to continue our education, .

That's My Child is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Gifts are fully tax-deductible.
